This gown was a custom recreation of the dress worn by Princess Mary (who later became Queen Mary I of England) in the 1544 portrait by Master John. The bodice and skirt are made of Chinese silk brocade, and the underskirt and false undersleeves are made of silver silk dupioni. The turned back sleeves of the bodice and the french hood are made of red velvet, and the chemise worn underneath is made of white cotton muslin.

In addition to the gown itself being created, the jewels worn by Princess Mary in the portrait were recreated as nearly as possible. The billiment of the French Hood was recreated using garnets, imitation garnets, and imitation pearls, and the ropes necklaces and beading on the bodice were made using imitation garnets and imitation pearls. The pendant was recreated by Parrish Relics.
