Agrona and Andraste, from 2005's King Arthur Festival, were an interesting design challenge. The characters were assassins, formidable warriors...with the mentality of small children. How to portray that in a costume?
In the end, I went for a design that combined elements of a knight's surcoat with elements of a little girl's jumper style dress. Slit at the sides for movement, but with shoulder straps that button in front, and a ribbon at the waist, it perfectly portrayed the visual aspects of these complex characters. |
